Guide Path Matrix
If you are unsure where to begin, identify your player profile below to find your optimal reading sequence. Rogue Core does not allow you to brute-force progression without systemic understanding.
What should beginners do in their first few Rogue Core runs?
Beginners must completely shift their mindset from traditional extraction shooters to a strict roguelite economy. In your first few runs, your primary objective is not to clear the deepest stages or reach the Core. Your goal is to map the procedural generation logic, gather baseline Expenite, and understand how the Processor Drone (R.E.P.D.) functions. You will likely die quickly due to the escalating timer pressure. Early runs are solely for harvesting the meta-currency required aboard the RV-09 "Ramrod" to permanently research base Phase Suits and Reclaimer Weapons. Do not fixate on complex weapon synergies until you have unlocked your foundational loadouts. Read the Rogue Core Beginner Guide for the exact 60-minute onboarding checklist.
Which Reclaimer or class should new players look at first?
There is no absolute "best" class, but there is a "safest" class depending on your environment. Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core features five officially confirmed Reclaimers: Guardian, Slicer, Spotter, Retcon, and Falconer. For beginners, the Slicer offers high-mobility dodges (Dash/Blitz) and wide-cone melee damage that clears low-level swarms easily, making it highly attractive. However, players struggling with survivability should heavily lean toward the Guardian, whose Seismic Gloves provide critical crowd control and repulsion. Keep in mind that Rogue Core enforces a "No Class Stacking" rule in co-op. You cannot run four Slicers. You must learn at least two Reclaimers to effectively fill a lobby. View the full breakdowns at Compare Reclaimers and Classes.
Should you focus on missions, bosses, routes, or progression first?
Always prioritize permanent progression over trying to force a specific mission or route clear early on. Because the caves of Hoxxes IV are procedurally generated beyond the Greyout Barrier, static route guides or map layouts do not exist in the traditional sense. You cannot memorize a map. Instead, you must memorize the Risk Vectors (mission modifiers) and enemy breakpoints. Focus on extracting whatever meta-resources you can to upgrade your Suit Mods and unlock Legendary tier drop potentials in the pool. Dedicated boss guides and static mission walkthroughs are currently π΄ [Tracking] and will be formulated once the Early Access procedural generation logic is fully mapped by the community. Check Track Resources and Progression to manage your unlocks.
Can solo players use the same guide path as co-op players?
Absolutely not. Solo players are playing a fundamentally more punishing version of the game. While the game features a single-player mode supported by the Cooper bot, solo players cannot rely on cross-revives, shared aggro, or the synergistic effects of the Spotter's Crit Darts or Gun-Link upgrades. Furthermore, the timer continues ticking while you are forced to perform every single interaction (mining, repairing, depositing) yourself. A build that relies on standing still and firing heavy sustained damage will easily wipe a solo player. Solo players must prioritize high mobility, self-sustain (like the Damage Dam upgrade), and strict time management. Read the Rogue Core Solo Guide for dedicated solo loadouts.

FAQ
What Rogue Core guide should I read first?
If you are completely new, start with the Rogue Core Beginner Guide. If you don't understand the basic difference between temporary and permanent unlocks, read the How to Play Rogue Core primer. Solo players must read the Solo Guide.
Is there a best beginner class or character?
The community currently recommends the Slicer for early mobility and the Guardian for raw survivability. However, there is no absolute "best" class, as cooperative synergy and Phase Suit mods drastically alter gameplay. Review the options at Compare Reclaimers and Classes.
Are there mission guides or boss guides yet?
No. Because the game relies heavily on procedural generation and is just entering Early Access, static mission walkthroughs and boss guides are marked as π΄ [Tracking]. They will be published once encounter mechanics are fully verified.
Does Rogue Core have route or map guides?
No. The caves behind the Greyout Barrier are procedurally generated. Traditional fixed map guides or "farming routes" do not exist. You must learn systemic survival rather than map memorization.
Should solo players follow the beginner guide?
Solo players should read the Beginner Guide to understand the core loop, but they must supplement it with the Rogue Core Solo Guide. Solo scaling, time pressure, and the absence of cross-revives require entirely different strategies.
Are Rogue Core guides updated after patches?
Yes. Every page on this wiki features a Last Checked date. Because Early Access games change rapidly, we log affected pages via our Updates Tracker to ensure you aren't reading obsolete Alpha information.
Is there a Rogue Core tier list?
Currently, we only provide "Best-for-Scenario" recommendations (e.g., Best Class for Solo Survivability). Absolute overarching Tier Lists are marked π΄ [Later] until the Day 1 Early Access meta stabilizes.
